Tampa Pool Cleaning Service and Maintenance

Drain and Acid Wash

We have found that many of our Tampa customers have problems with staining at the bottom of their swimming pool. Others have pools that are now overtaken by algae because of poor winterizing processes, lack of pool care, or stagnant water. A service that is particularly helpful in these situations is acid washing your swimming pool. You may also hear this service referred to as “drain and clean.” Regardless of what it is called, you can feel confident it will remove stains due to hard water and algae buildup, brighten pool finish, and more.

Acid Washing Explained

With acid washing, there will be a thin layer of Pebble-Tec, gunite, or plaster removed to reveal a fresh, new surface and to remove stains that are present. When done properly, this treatment will remove the chlorine, dirt, mineral, and algae stains from the sides and the bottom of your swimming pool. If your pool was not properly maintained in the past, or if there is stagnant water that has been transformed into an algae bloom, phosphates and algae may become embedded in the finish. When this happens, it’s virtually impossible to eliminate.

With our acid washing services, you can feel confident that all phosphates and algae that are not removed by chemicals are eliminated. When complete, the actual acid washing process will provide your pool with a fresh, clean, new finish along with clear and sparkling water.

Is it Time to Schedule an Acid Wash?

Usually, a pool owner can determine if an acid wash is necessary because there are unsightly stains present because of dirt, chemicals, minerals, or algae. Another reason that acid washing is a smart investment is if the water hasn’t been well-maintained or if the water in the pool has sat stagnant for a while, causing water discoloration and algae. In some situations, the total amount of labor and chemicals used for bringing the water back to a normal level may be pretty close or the same as what an acid wash costs. If you are unable to see the bottom of your swimming pool, then it is definitely time to schedule an acid washing service.

Is Acid Washing a Safe Process?

Our team of professional pool cleaners have been properly trained to make sure that your swimming pool is safely drained and fully cleaned. Acid will be applied to take off or etch a very thin layer of plaster, Pebble-Tec, or gunite off. The acid will then be removed carefully, and the pool will be refilled without causing any harm to the surface. Typically, you should schedule an acid washing service for your pool one time a year. Remember, acid washing will speed up the need to re-surface pool, so don’t schedule this particular maintenance service more than one time a year.

When you hire our team of professionals, you can feel confident that we will only use the right tools and process to ensure the end results exceed your needs and expectations. In the long run, this investment in your pool is going to be well worth it.
